Welcome to Five Points!

There's a New Fest in town, Five Points. All the best parts of a Con without the over the top commercial hype.

Named after the infamous Manhattan neighborhood, Five Points Fest is trying to make its mark as a different kind of artist/merchandise venue. I was excited to hit the floor and see what this new con had to show for itself, so I arrived early and walked in with the press and VIPs. The first thing I noticed was the great mixture of artists, retailers, makers and comic vendors, all well represented. Retailers like Kid Robot, Midtown Comics and P!Q had great displays as did local street/graffiti artists like Wizard Skull and Vers.

It was nice to meet up with a few friends and artists whose work is usually found on the streets. Miss Zukie and JCorp together make an awesome team! Their booth is full of colorful characters and great merchandise!

...always a good day when ChrisRWK is part of it!

Also had fun watching Imamaker doing her thing live at The LISA Project Booth. Several other artists are scheduled to paint live there on Sunday.

All in all, a good first day with more to come. I will be going back today, hope you can you can make it too!

Stay Tuned for in-depth interviews with some of our local favorites and a special interview with The LISA Project and Kano about the huge mural they did with the Fest.

Five Points Fest is located at Pier 36, 299 South Street and continues on Sunday from 11-5, tickets are still available.
