4. And the most important tip of all, when someone invites you to a Brooklyn rooftop do not hesitate even for a second... go!

Brooklyn rooftops are magic on a spring night. Lights twinkling, music drifting up on the breeze from the streets below, and the city stretched out as far as the eye can see. For someone who has spent a lot of time in the mountains, rooftops are about as close as you can get to the feeling of standing on the edge of a scenic overlook with the vastness of the world below and beyond.

Brooklyn rooftops also hold many secrets, splashes of paint, beautiful pieces of art, tags from graffiti legends and more, some never visible from below. Simply put Brooklyn rooftops are one of the true treasures of the city.

It was one of those magical nights, on one of those magical rooftops that brought together Himbad and Aito Kitazaki to create a mysterious portal into another dimension. Having met earlier in the year in Aito’s native Tokyo both were excited to collaborate while here in NYC.

Aito, a stencil artist, created the scene, the figure peering into the door, into the unknown, while unbeknownst to him, Himbad gives life to the nightmare. The nightmare that hangs always just off our shoulders, in the shadows, waiting to pounce.
