Fat Free Art Presents: F A N A K A P A N

Co-curated by Raphael Gonzalez Thursday, November 16th, 2017 6 pm to 10 pm

Fanakapan is a UK based street and urban artist that started painting in Bristol and Bournemouth in the early 2000’s. He studied at art school and was immersed in the whole street and skater culture until he discovered stenciling based designs which failed to temper his need to properly express himself. He evolved into the chrome balloon style that he is so known for in 2010.

From there, he has taken the style and experimented into various illusions and effects which include but are not limited to translucence, reflective behaviors, lights, shadows and ultimately the realism involved in such choices. This natural direction for Fanakapan has taken him to a new level of light play and allowed him to focus on more intricate details involving opacity, translucence and shadows. He has painted canvases, interior wall space, outdoor murals and basically any workable surface. This leads him to today, where he is now a world renowned artist known for his chrome based 3D shadow and reflective effects to make any subject pop with realism.

Fat Free Art Gallery is the global leader in the Urbanism Movement. They are also one of the leading galleries at the forefront of bringing the biggest artists from around the world to exhibit. It should come as no surprise that Fanakapan would present at FFA with his first solo show in the United States.

Join us this Thursday, 6 pm – 10 pm at Fat Free Art at 102 Allen Street in the Lower East Side as Fanakapan will be presenting over 10 pieces of new original works as well as exclusive prints.
