Stay Up Gallery Presents: Danny Hastings

The Stay Up Gallery in Merrion Square is beyond excited to be hosting our next exhibit featuring the photographic work of Hip Hop's own Danny Hastings. The Sacramento born, Queens raised photographer has captured images of some of the most iconic album covers to date. From WuTang, Raekwon and NAS, to Gang Starr, KRS One and Tribe Called Quest Hastings has brought his unique style to the forefront of memorable portrait photography.
Come join us on Wednesday, August 29th from 6-10pm and meet the man himself, while taking a trip back to the Golden Era of Hip Hop. More about Danny Hastings below.
Danny Hastings is the math-major-turned-photographer behind several of everyone’s favorite rap album covers. Hastings’ love for photography lead him to shoot over 150 album covers and direct over 50 music videos. Listed in Complex Magazine as one of the 15 rap photographers every rap fan should know. His most notable work includes Enter the Wu-Tang: 36 Chambers, Big Pun’s Capital Punishment, Nas’ I am, Eminem’s Slim Shady Special Edition Cover just to name a few. Some of his top music videos include Don Omar’s Hasta Abajo, Gerardo Ortiz’s Damaso and Prince Royce’s Darte un Beso with 2 billion YouTube hits collectively. Hastings has written and directed two feature-length films, The Love Potion (2010) and Venus de Macho which is currently in post-production. In addition, he also created the Official Latino Short Film Festival to give opportunities to young latinx filmmakers.
